A prep guide

Congratulations, Rising Senior! This year is all about you, and we are about to customize your senior photo session to what you want it to be! After all, these are your photos! Below is a step-by-step guide, to book, secure and take those perfect senior portraits as well as tips, tricks, and recommendations to make it as easy and stress-free as possible, for you! I look forward to working with you and creating timeless images that reflect you and your personality.

  

Step 1: Choose a Date & Time:

Senior sessions are typically booked anytime between June – September, to ensure you have that favorite photo yearbook ready for submission. Due to warmer weather conditions, it is recommended to book in the early morning, or late day to ensure softer lighting and less sweat!


Step 2: Pick a Location:

Whether it be at a beach, in the middle of the woods, or the football field- we will decide on the perfect location that you envision for your photos. Some locations require added fees and will be added to the session fee. 


Below are some beautiful venues that are within the local radius, that are free of charge locations to hold your session:

Douglas State Park – Douglas, MA

Purgatory Chasm – Sutton, MA

Shaw Farm- Sutton, MA

Whitin Park- Northbridge, MA

DelCarte Conservation Area- Franklin MA

West Hill Dam – Uxbridge, MA

Roger Williams Park- Providence, RI

Cedar Hill Farm- Mendon, MA (by appt only via HTP)

Hopedale Pond & Parklands – Hopedale, MA


Below are some beautiful venues that are out of the local radius, that require an additional fee to hold your session. If interested, inquire with Heather for pricing:

Step 3: Theme & Props

Sport seniors: Bring the uniform, and ball – or we can bring them to the field or court! Hobbyist’s let’s get your favorite things incorporated into the session. If you own a horse, I’ll come to the barn! Want to show off your car or truck? Let’s get some shots with you in it (and on it!) Love flowers? Let’s go to a garden! Artist? Let’s throw some paint around and get messy! All and any themes or props are welcomed and encouraged during the session. Talk with Heather about your vision and what you want to incorporate into your shoot, prior to your session date. 2026 tassel included (if wishes to use) Encourage but not mandatory that you to bring a kindergarten graduation picture of yourself if you have one (framed without glass)


  

Step 4: Outfits & Accessories (Recommended but not Mandatory)

Plan for 3 changes

Portable Changing Tent included for quick changes

Recommendations for the guys include long jeans or shorts & a tee, khaki jeans or shorts and polo/button down and school uniform or hobby outfit. 

Recommendations for the girls include jeans & a tee, dress or dress up outfit, and school uniform or hobby outfit. 

Tops and bottoms should NOT be the exact same color. If you wear light jeans, plan for a darker shirt or vice versa. Beach theme is recommended to be neutral colors such as khaki, white, light blue or dark blue tones. New or gently worn shoes/sneakers/slip-ons should be free of dirt, scuff marks, or stains. I do gently edit photos, but AI can only help so much) Make sure to iron and hang outfits. Remove all unwanted accessories (girls- this means those 10 hair ties you always have on your wrists 😊) Scrub and cut fingernails prior to shoot. Avoid sun exposure 48 hours before session to avoid unwanted burns/tan lines.
